In February 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Igor Chekachkov was forced to evacuate his hometown of Kharkiv. 100 Days of War originates from the aftermath of this displacement—a personal record of photographs and notes assembled in a small notebook during his journey west. What began as an intuitive need to record his family's evacuation and the realities of a land under attack soon became a rigorous examination of home, identity, and the mechanics of memory. Beyond serving as a literal documentary of conflict, 100 Days of War confronts photography itself. In this work, Igor questions the inherent limitations of an image and its capacity to accurately document, represent, and affect the realities of war.
