Work In Progress is a four-year project of drone photographs of construction sites in Atlanta. Renowned photographer Peter Essick uses an aerial perspective to transform the mundane materials of active construction sites into striking modernist abstractions.
Essick strips away the horizon line, forcing the viewer to confront the human-altered landscape as a series of intricate textures and patterns.
Work In Progress asks us to look closely at the fleeting, hidden architecture that underpins our modern lives, capturing the art found in the act of building.
